Framboise-Barrel Aged Raspberry Sour Release
Boom Room Event
The Framboise is a tart and dry Belgian style beer, spontaneously fermented in oak casks with raspberries for nearly two years. The fruit was added to the red wine barrels, handpicked by brewer Kevin Welch, to restart an additional fermentation within each barrel. Belgian brewers have been brewing sours in various forms in the Brussels region of Belgium for over 400 years. Following in their footsteps here in Minneapolis, Boom Island has created an authentic take on this Belgian classic. A perennial favorite, this distinctive style of beer has been known to introduce newcomers to sours and the joys of the Belgian tradition of brewing.
Boom Island’s Spontaneous Series pays homage to some of the most ancient of Belgian brewing traditions, dating back over 400 years. Future editions are in the works, and look forward to a Pêche variety later in the spring of 2017.
Framboise – 4.8% ABV
Appearance – Red Rose to Ruby hue with a quickly dissipating head (due to the spontaneous fermentation)
