Farm to Brewery: Literally.
Boom Room Event
The term “Farm to Table” has become a conceit so overused and exhausted that it has become comical and nearly devoid of meaning. The next trend on the horizon is Farm to Bottle, Farm to Keg, Farm to Glass, etc. No to be outdone, Boom Island Brewing Company is taking it one step further: by physically transporting facets of the farm to the brewery in the city.
We are teaming up with Chad Douglas, of Douglas Farms in Mora, MN to bring in farm animals that might be of some interest to craft beer lovers who are more city-centric.
1pm doors open, Saison pours begin in earnest.
1-6pm Brewery Farmhouse visitors to the Boom Island parking lot include baby Rex rabbits, miniature Serama chickens, a Galloway calf or two and some new hatchling baby ducks. At press time Boom Island is still in the process of acquiring a pony or two, and possibly a goat. Chad Douglass will be on hand to answer questions and sell a few of his wares.
Dog treats using spent grain will be made available for dog owners and their pets.
7-9pm Boom Room Jazz with the Minnesota Hard Bop Collective featuring the Music of Bobby Watson.
Yes, we are bringing a farm to the brewery! This is a family and kids friendly event.
